It all started when Gen for Petes birthday planned a surprise getaway at a wellness hotel in Sud Tirol,
Italy. We left on the Friday and just had the most relaxing and magical weekend. That was the 15th of May.
On the 27th of May we got a phone call that Gens dad had died. She got on a plane the next day. A week later after
a pregnancy test the result was positive... We were ecstatic and have subsequently warned all our friends who are planning
a wellness weekend in Sud Tirol in Italy.
My pregnancy
The first 3 months of my pregnancy were a little strange. I could here a needle fall on the floor from
1 km away and smelt chocolate from the bottom of the garden. I couldnt bear to smell leather and found it unbearable
to cook. This all worked out okay as i was in Koln for a german course and my host mother cooked for
me for a month! By the time I got back it had passed. I continued as normal until the 9th month
when backache and occasional nerves and visits to the toilet at night kept me awake at night. Otherwise it was a dream!
The Baby's Room
Getting the bab's room ready was really exciting and kept us busy! Gen chose the colour of the room - Maize yellow
and one rainy weekend we both painted it out! Then the bedding Gen ordered from America (thanks Laurent and Caroline for sending
it on to us) Of course Gen wanted an African animal theme so the bedding and quilt reflects this! Then we received some
beautiful cards from South Africa (Thanks Trixie) which we had framed.. they are of African women with their babies and are
just to beautiful. The furniture we sourced from Ikea and it just has really fitted together...
